As many of you will know, I run a little Podcast called "JustBranding" with Australian conspirator Jacob Cass. The benefit of running such a Podcast is that you get to interview your hero's. In our latest episode I got to do just that when we sat down with the wonderful Joseph Pine. I read Joseph's book "The Experience Economy" that he co-wrote with James Gilmore some years ago and it blew my mind.
The basic teaching of the book - if you want to create value then create experiences - has shaped a lot of my work in helping to "manage the meaning" customers attach to brands. The book argues (and shows) how that by creating these experiences businesses generate deep meaningful connections with their customers ensuring that they view time spent with your brand as “time well spent”.
Anyhow, this is all covered (and more!) in our latest episode of Just Branding - which, IMHO, is one of our best.
Episode blurb: As a customer, you’re not buying the item. You’re buying the experience. Today, we have Joseph Pine II, co-author of The Experience Economy, on the show to discuss the importance of delighting your customer, along with some powerful examples that will help you “Design the TIME the customer spends with YOU”. If you work with people, then this episode is for you.
